Service first
The product starts with the people who served and the families who carried the years with them not with a generic checking account.

A licensed bank built around pension day.
Our mission
River Gem Bank exists to make the move from military service to retirement clearer with banking built around military retired pay, retirement savings and the businesses that support those communities.
Licensed by the California DFPI · Member FDIC · California state-chartered bank
River Gem Bank was founded in Newport Beach in 2017 by a small team who kept seeing the same problem: military retired pay arrived on a schedule the rest of the banking system did not understand.
We opened as a California state chartered bank in 2019. The Military Retired Pay Account followed in 2021, built around the three moments of a pension month: the income lands, the reserve moves, and the rest of the month is planned.
Today River Gem serves 18,400 military households in all 50 states, with retirement deposits and business banking alongside the flagship account. We remain branch light by design: a named banker, a clear statement and a phone number that a person answers.
The commercial pages are part of the same story. Veteran owned businesses, defense adjacent suppliers and the institutions that serve military communities need lending, treasury and specialty banking from people who understand the contracts and the calendar.
What we stand for
The values behind the product decisions, not a campaign checklist.
The product starts with the people who served and the families who carried the years with them not with a generic checking account.
Fees, risks and next steps published up front, in language people actually read. No product that needs a translator.
A named banker who knows the file, so a customer is not re-explaining their income every time they call.
Deposits support the communities that provide them. That is an operating commitment, not a plaque in the lobby.
